An Ermos unit drafts them from the practitioner's own notes, on hardware inside the practice, and the practitioner reviews and signs. This is administrative support; clinical judgement is not the unit's job and never will be.
How it works on the unit
The unit works from the practitioner's notes and the practice's letter templates, indexed on-site.
The letter assembles the relevant history, medications and reason for referral in your template, addressed to the right specialist.
The practitioner checks the draft against the record, corrects anything, and signs. Nothing is sent without that review.
The signed letter goes out through your existing practice software; a copy files against the patient record as it always has.
The boundary, stated plainly
The unit drafts documents from information practitioners have already recorded. It does not diagnose, suggest treatment or provide clinical decision support, which is different regulatory territory. Our patient data guide covers where the lines sit.
Why on-premise matters most here
A referral letter is health information end to end, the most protected category under the Privacy Act. Drafting it on a cloud service is a disclosure question; drafting it on the unit is not, because the record never leaves the practice.
